Description
The Buford duck call was marketed by the Novelty Sales Company of Memphis, Tennessee in the mid to late 1940s. The call initially sold for $2.50, and came with an unconditionally guaranteed.
This call was hand fitted and individually tuned. The barrel and wedge were made of walnut. The stopper was crafted of maple and accompanied with a metal reed. Buford calls were waterproofed and highly finished. The calls were stamped "Buford" on each walnut barrel.
In their guarantee, this company stated, "Before shipment each Buford duck call is checked and tuned by an expert to produce the best natural tone and will maintain this tone indefinitely with reasonable care." If a Buford call ever became defective, the owner simply mailed back the bad parts with 25 cents.
If parts were missing you could purchase replacement parts; $1.25 for the insert, $1.00 for the Barrel, Wedge block .25 and new reed for .50.
Bufords’ closely resemble Stofer Duck calls, however it is unknown if there is any connection between the two.
